Conference conducted in Potsdam, Germany, between July 17 and August 2, 1945, between representatives of the U.S., UK and USSR. Then set out the principles that would govern political and economic treatment of Germany in the initial control of the Allies after the end of the Second World War, and sent an ultimatum to Japan demanding unconditional surrender, on pain of utter destruction.
